Young People group for ages between 13.5 – 18 years old. Running on a Monday night between 7 – 9pm at the Scout Hall, Millfield, Haddington.
We have a dedicated 40 strong Explorer Scout Unit that meets weekly. We devise and run an engaged and group directed programme as well as meeting the requirements of the Scout programme and awards.
We currently have a group of our Explorer’s who are undertaking the Young Leader Award as well as the normal programme.
Part of the excitement and engagement of being an Explorer scout is getting away to do some camping, exploring the wilderness and forests or maybe even a summer camp at one of the scout regional centres where it is all go, go, go doing adventurous activity and team building. Here at 2nd Haddington we aim as an Explorer scout unit to arrange 2-3 weekend a year where we go walking and stay out over night camping, attend some of the big ticket events such as Cally Rally held near Inverness and Wooly Jumper held near Aberdeen, as well as some other camps to help achieve the more difficult Zodiac Award by sleeping 6 foot of the ground, camping over night on water or near a beach for example. We have a group completing their Bronze Awards and another group who are onto completing their Silver Award already!
